Reorganize Your Life This Summer: 5 Simple Ways

1. Declutter your living space.

I honestly believe that our living space is a representation of our life. Whenever my room is messy, I feel as if my life is also unorganized. One idea is to go through your closet and decide what to keep and what can go. Throw out any clothes that don’t make you feel wonderful! You can donate your clothes to a retail shop or sell them online. Another idea is to do a deep cleaning. Vacuum, dust and organize galore!

 

2. Get rid of toxic relationships. 

This one is a hard one, but I promise you that it will have benefits in the long run. If your friend, relative or significant other is constantly bashing and criticizing you instead of making you laugh or smile, then they aren’t worth your time. Getting rid of toxic relationships will make you feel relieved once it is over.

 

3. Switch up your diet!

When I started following a healthy, vegan diet this year, I completely transformed myself in the best way possible. Suddenly I felt lighter, happier and more motivated. I even shed a couple of pounds! Eating healthy is the key to feeling great, and isn’t as hard as people make it out to be. 4. While you’re at it, start exercising! 

Almost as important as healthy eating is exercising. I would recommend joining a gym, but if that isn’t your style then there are many things you can do at home. 

o    Start running. Running can relieve stress, help you lose weight and improve your health. Even running for just 20 to 30 minutes will help.

o    Get into yoga. Similar to running, yoga can promote weight loss. It can also increase your flexibility, tone muscles and improve athletic performance in other areas.

o    Try a YouTube workout. Fitness Blender has some exhausting workouts but there are honestly a lot of good ones out there. Start with full-body workouts then move on to ab, arm, and leg workouts. 

 

5. Start incorporating more healthy habits into your life. 

There are so many healthy habits out there that it can start to feel overwhelming when trying to follow all of them. But, a few habits that are definitely important to add into your life are as follows. 

o    Meditation. It is such a great way to start feeling more calm and centered! If you have never tried meditation before, there are some great online resources to help you get into it. I would recommend Headspace, a mobile app that is perfect for beginners.

o    Journaling. It is much simpler than it seems! If you pick up a $3 composition notebook from a local supermarket and a few pens, then you will be set! Just write about what is on your mind and what has been bothering you lately. Working out problems with pen and paper helps ease the mind and is a great way to improve your life.

o    Getting to bed earlier and waking up earlier. Although you might be groaning at the thought, waking up early is truly the key to success. And this is coming from an insomniac who used to stay up until dawn every night. Waking up earlier truly changed my life and made me much more productive. Pairing this with going to bed early will make you feel much more energized in the morning. 

o    Setting goals lists. Writing goals lists is one of my favorite things to do and really helps my mind focus on what I really need to do. I like setting yearly, monthly and weekly goals list to keep myself on task.

o    Reading! It’s a habit that many of us fall out of during our teenage years, but reading is honestly such a good thing to keep up with. One thing that most successful people have in common is that they are very well read! Reading is a great way to relax and learn new things at the same time.
